Mysteryland 2010: the biggest dance event with augmented reality

August 27, 2010

So today we went over to Mysteryland to prepaire and test the Mysteryland layar. It’s mighty impressive what ID&T has done with the area. From what we’ve seen we can already say that this year will be the best EVER!!!! Never mind if there’s a little rain because once you’ve hit the Mysteryland grounds you’ll forget all about that! There is so much to see and do… it’s truely awesome… but unfortunately we can’t show you the pictures… sorry that’s what we agreed with ID&T.

What we CAN show you are the first snapshots of the Mysteryland Layar! Mysteryland will add a whole new dimension tomorrow. Using the Layar augmented reality browser, you will be able to explore the huge terrain through the camera of your Android- or iPhone and find out which of the 150 dj’s is performing on the 16 stages and what is the fastest way to get there. When zooming in on a stage you will be able to learn more about the dj that is on stage, what he is playing and get downloads via Dance Tunes. Read the rest of this entry ?

First impressions: The Stedelijk Museum art collection in augmented reality.

August 22, 2010

Yesterday we went over to the Lowlands festival to meet with Hein Wils from Stedelijk Museum and Sander Veenhof from SNDRV. Both were part of the team that created the Stedelijk Museum art collection in AR with us. FYI. this is NOT the official case presentation but merely an impression of what we experienced at the scene.

The Stedelijk Museum had a fantastic desk set up where people could go to and choose one of the 175+ Artworks from famous artists like Picasso, Warhol or Appel. (no not that one… I mean Karel Appel) And so we also did… It’s always nice to see your own augmented reality projects actually being used.

Premier for Lowlands: the Stedelijk Museum art collection in augmented reality.

August 19, 2010

This weekend, during the Lowlands music festival in the Netherlands, the Stedelijk Museum will lend digital versions from their world famous art collection to visitors with an Android- or iPhone. Hein Wils, project leader ARtours at Stedelijk Museum, calls it “Borrowing real art in augmented reality”. At a special desk visitors of the festival will be able to choose one of the 175 famous art works by artists like Picasso, Karel Appel, Andy Warhol and Gilbert & George.

Using their Layar augmented reality browser, visitors will be able to place their art piece anywhere on the festival terrain. Other visitors will be able to view the art pieces from their new temporary owner through the Layar browser on their smartphones.

The Lowlands festival will take place on August 20, 21 and 22.

Very nice article in the Lowlands daily newspaper today!
